Aloe gel is extracted from the pulp found in the leaves of the plant, which is native to eastern and southern Africa. It has been used since ancient times, and is even mentioned in Egyptian papyri and the Bible. Cleopatra is said to have used the gel for skin care.
It is rich in mucopolysaccharides, allantoin, vitamins (A, C and E), minerals, amino acids and enzymes.
Its combination of ingredients gives it anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, so it is very useful in the treatment of acne. It evens out skin tone and reduces scars caused by spots, blackheads or sunburn.
It is a very effective moisturiser, maintaining the natural pH balance and skin moisture.
Its high allantoin content gives it regenerative properties because it promotes epithelialisation, stimulating and strengthening the collagen and elastin fibres, thus slowing down the ageing of the skin, reducing wrinkles and preventing the appearance of new ones.
